Biography - Mr Isaac Chapweteka

Isaac Chapweteka is a paediatric physiotherapist with a special interest in working with children with disabilities and their families living in both rural and urban area in Malawi. He was trained in Bobath therapy techniques in children in Zambia in 2008 by Gillian Saloojee.  He is a Cerebral Palsy Africa consultant. He did his Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Western Cape in 2014. He has been working in the Community based rehabilitation from 2000 to 2012. He is a part-time lecture at the University of Malawi. He has been lecturing undergraduate students at the college of medicine for the past five years. Full time lecture at the Medical Rehabilitation College and Head of academics at the same institution. He has been involved in teaching of Special Needs Primary School teachers, Community Based rehabilitation Workers and mothers of children with cerebral palsy in the handling of Cerebral palsy children and other children living with impairments and manufacturing of appliances using locally based materials such as cardboard for making adapted chairs, Standing frames stools for sitting and toys for children with Cerebral palsy,. Currently he is working with a project call fit to school for children with cerebral palsy in Africa which is sponsored by a Scottish organization call Cerebral palsy Africa. In the past two months he attended a refresher training course at Malamulele (South African) to update in the handling skills of children with different problems.
